Recently, I heard that the great Paula Deen has fallen from grace.

I usually don’t condone racism, as it hurts EVERYONE involved, but I must say this: shame on you, Mrs. Deen. Shame on you. My family will no longer be buying your products.

That is all.

Jacquel Rassenworth on Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett

Today is the fourth anniversary of the deaths of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett.

As we all know, Michael Jackson was one of the most famous pop stars in history (his album Thriller remains the #1 bestselling album ever) and Farrah Fawcett was an actress who is best known for her role on the hit TV show Charlie’s Angels.

But that’s not all, right?

Anyway, I remember the day when Maddy called me up while my dad, Matt, and I were on vacation in the Florida Keys and told me about Farrah Fawcett’s death. Now, I’m going to be honest with you and admit that I’m not a huge fan of Farrah, even if my dad was. Nonetheless, it was shocking to hear about the death of Farrah; it brings me no joy when I have to hear about a celebrity’s death.

Anyway, while Maddy was telling me about Farrah, Shara interrupted her to tell me about the death of Michael Jackson. Now that frightened me more than when we all learned about the death of another celebrity.

This brings me to the next part of the story, which was when everyone and their mother was talking about Michael and Farrah as if they were family. Dad was more shocked over the death of Michael than Farrah. Matt, however, just rolled his eyes and kept playing his video games.

But I was very upset to learn about Michael’s death, especially since I had heard about his comeback concert and Shara and her family were planning to attend the concerts in London. Also, I had always hated Michael’s father Joe for essentially ruining his life and now, I wish nothing but harm to fall upon Conrad Murray, the man who ultimately killed Michael Jackson. (There are several others who I blame as well; their names will not be mentioned here)

Well, that was 4 years ago.

Now, we haven’t heard from Farrah’s family much since then, but we do know that the Jackson family is trying to make the concert promoter AEG pay for what happened to Michael (shame on those guys, they should have known better). But all I care about is the music that Michael had left behind.

This is it.

Here’s my take on this movie:

I was 5 when the first movie came out. Five. Think about that for a second, will you?

If you were 5 years old when Monsters Inc came out in theaters, you’re too old to see this movie. I am chronologically 17 years old, which means that I am way too old for this movie. Most of us today who have seen this movie are old now. (I canNOT stress this enough!)

Plus, Mike and Sully in college??? Why would they want to do that?? Whatever happened to fan fiction?

Parents, DON’T take your kids to see this move.

WTF???

Zombies vs. Brad Pitt???

Well, as we all know, I am not too big on zombies (see Warm Bodies), but I am a fan of Brad. But as for this movie, well, I confess that I haven’t seen it yet, as I haven’t read World War Z the book and I still hate the concept of zombies.

But I know for sure that Scott, Maddy, and Shara are going to drag me to see this movie anyway.

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer

I hate summer. Really hate it. For me, summer was the time of year when my mother was killed in that stupid car accident. Summer was the time when our family was forever torn apart.

In short, summer is here.

So, while you guys are having fun with your family, I’ll be sitting here in the dark, all alone, with no mother to talk to.

And that’s why you shouldn’t text or drink and drive.

More to follow…

R.I.P. James Gandolfini

Last night, Shar sent me an email telling me about the sudden death of actor James Gandolfini.

At first, I refused to believe the news, as I knew that the guy was only 51. And as we all knew, he was known as Tony Soprano on the show The Sopranos. I recall seeing the show, even if the show wasn’t for kids; Shar, Maddy, Scott, and I once secretly watched the show on HBO and like the rest of those who watched the show, I thought that James was fit for the role of Tony Soprano. (Of course, I was angry with the series finale, in which Tony goes to the door and the entire scene fades to black. But that’s for another blog post.)

Well, all I can say is R.I.P. James Gandolfini.

Jacquel Rassenworth on Father’s Day

Well, as we all know, today is Father’s Day, a day when we celebrate the fathers in our lives. But I know that most of my friends won’t be celebrating, because thanks to today’s modern society, their fathers are no longer part of their lives.

Let’s not start here.

But as for me, I do feel rotten for not trusting my own father with the whole Sereno and Tammy debacle, and because of that, our relationship is quite strained right now.

Maybe it’s time for me to write him an apology letter.

To be honest, I’m not a huge fan of Superman and I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because I like the Marvel superheroes better. Who knows?

Anyway, I went to see Man of Steel last night and while the story looked impressive in 3D, I had a hard time keeping up with the storyline. (Maybe that’s why I never watched any of the Superman movies or even Smallville at all)

Hmmm…maybe I better drag Shar to see this one with me.

As we all know, I like weird things that totally mess up your head. Now get a load of this: there is a 2-faced cat that was born in Oregon just yesterday.

That’s right, we have a cat that has 2 faces.

Is your head messed up yet? Well, it should be.

And here’s a picture of the baby cat:
